I had a very different post planned for today, but

I had a very different post planned for today, but 2025 decided to get in one last knockout. For as long as I’ve been an author, my bio has included the mention of the Goldendoodle by my side. And yesterday, we had to say goodbye to him. There was never a better dog than Bear. He has been by my side through the hardest of days, and our home will not be the same without him.

And now for what I really wanted to say today…is that 2025 has tested me in ways I never expected. And as much as I’ve hated this year —and I have—I think it’s made me stronger. I fight for myself more. I speak up more. I give myself more credit.
I’m done doubting myself. Selling myself short. Blaming myself for my mistakes.

I know my own strength now.

In 2025…
I’ve read more.
Gotten more tattoos.
I’ve made new friends.
Been unapologetic in my passions.
I took risks.
I’ve learned to love myself again—inside and out.
I think I’m finding a piece of myself I’ve been hiding for too long.
I know the big accomplishment this year was the New York Times, but in my heart, the thing I’m most proud of is building a team who helped us get there.
And building a readership who isn’t afraid to step out of the mainstream. Who isn’t afraid to take risks. Who isn’t afraid to be loud about what they want.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting me. For reading my stories. For loving my characters.

I hope you stick around because I’m just getting started.

Fuck you, 2025.
